Hello everyone! Today I'm going to be making a blog post about my journey with both weight loss and weight gain. This post IS NOT meant to make anyone feel bad about their body. Every body is different and beautiful in their own way and this post is just meant to inspire those who want to live a healthier lifestyle! (not just lose weight in general)

From left to right: My cousin Sara, my baby sister, and me.

I weighed 2.lbs 12.oz at birth and all throughout my childhood I was very thin and boney and people would make fun of me for being so thin. They'd call me "skinny bone jones" and just ya know, normal teasing type stuff. Then, when I turned about 13 I went through puberty.

I was very uhh... curvy to say the least. I had curves and big boobs and I believe this is around the time I was my heaviest. I was a little over 130.lbs (4'10") and one day, the doctor said to me, "You're overweight for your height." and that really shocked me that he came out and said that. I began to have really low self esteem and I just felt inadequate. I had kids in high school tease me, and ask me if I was pregnant and they'd spread rumors about me being pregnant and things like that. On top of everything, I had a boyfriend and he'd always tell me that I should lose weight and stuff like that so it made me feel really bad about myself.

Then I went through a bit of an ED (eating disorder) and I just stopped eating. Eventually, I went a couple months without eating, at all and maybe I lost weight at first. (a couple pounds if that) but then I gained it ALL BACK if not, more. I ended up making myself really sick and I had to go to the hospital. I dropped out of school and just.. my life was a mess. It was not worth it AT ALL.

So here I was a few months after that period. Like I said, I gained all that weight back and I really struggled with my ED. I'd eat and do good, then I'd stop eating again until I was sick and then I'd eat again and it was almost like a never ending cycle of self-hatred.

Here am about 122lbs (4'10"). I wasn't entirely unhealthy but, I really wanted to change my lifestyle. I didn't want to hate myself anymore and I wanted to be happy and healthy. I started working out and eating right. The important thing is, work out-- doing what you love. You don't have to go to the gym if you don't want to. Do something that you'll actually enjoy doing.

For example, when I can, I like to play Just Dance games on the Wii with my brothers and sisters for a couple hours and that usually brings a sweat haha. If you play sports, do that, if you like to swim, go swimming. There are tons of things you can do to keep your body healthy and active and it's important that you just have fun with it. I try to maintain a healthy diet but nothing too extreme. I don't drink soda very often, at all. I have water with my dinner instead of sugary drinks. I only eat sweets on occasion  I don't eat any junk food or chips or anything like that and yeah, it may seem hard at first but after a while, it gets easier and I honestly don't even crave sweets as often, anymore.

I LOVE veggies and fruits so, I try to eat those as much as possible. I try not to snack during the day unless it's healthy. For example, my favorite snack to eat is Reduced Fat Wheat Thins and grapes or fruit. I like smoothies so, I try to have smoothies as often as I can. Frozen yogurt is good for you.. there are tons and tons of things you can do. Your diet doesn't have to be "fruits and veggies and that's it"-no. If you're doing good and you want to reward yourself with some low fat ice cream once a month, then do it.

Eventually, I did it! I now weigh a HEALTHY 112.lbs (4'10") I lost in total about 20.lbs within 6 months or so. All I had to do was make some minor adjustments to my current lifestyle that worked for me. All body types are different and you may not see results right away. Be patient! Do the workouts that you enjoy doing, eat healthy, and happily. Just my changing my diet and adding a little exercise to my life, I feel 100% healthier and happier! It's definitely helped improve my confidence and the way I see myself. It's helped me overcome my depression and was overall, a really life changing experience for me and I've come a long way. 2013 may be the first year I've worn a bikini since I was 13 years old so, I'm really excited for that! I'm just a lot happier and healthier and that's what matters to me. :')

I wish you all the best in your journey to self-acceptance and I love you all! ♥
